Biography
Dr. Yanhong Wu is currently a visiting assistant professor and a research associate in the department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥. She received Ph.D. degrees both in history (1997) and sociology (2010). Her research interests and teachings center on late imperial China, legal institutions and culture, rituals and rites, and rural society in contemporary China. She is the author of monographs Mingdai chongjun yanjiu (Military exile in the Ming dynasty, 2003), Mingchao Falü (Law and its practice in Ming China, 2016, with Yonglin Jiang), and Zhidu yu zhishi: Mingdai guanyuan tongxiaolüyi yanjiu (Institutions and knowledge: Ming officials’ expertise in law, 2023), along with a number of journal articles and book chapters. Before she joined ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥, she was a professor at Zhejiang University and an assistant professor at Adrian College. She has taught a variety of courses on history, sociology, and China studies.
