What's happening at your internship? We would love to hear what kind of work you are doing!
I am currently working on a project focusing on the public health impacts of switching heavy duty vehicles from diesel to renewable natural gas (RNG). My project is specifically focused on major city hubs, about 30 of the most populated counties in the country. It involves gathering data on volume truck traffic, direct tailpipe emissions changes, and using a tool developed by the EPA called COBRA which assists in estimating both qualitative and quantitative impacts of emissions reductions. Upon completion of this report we hope to provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders about the impact of diesel emissions and provide a solution that is achievable.

Why did you apply for this internship?
I applied for this internship with Energy Vision on a recommendation of my lab advisor professor due to my interest in something that combined my interest in public health, environmental science, and chemistry. Energy Vision, as a NGO, occupies a unique position in the field. Their mission perfectly aligns with my various interests and offers an opportunity to contribute to impactful work without the constraints often found in other organizations.

Was there anything special about how you found this internship?
Energy Vision was founded by a ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ Alum and is currently run by a Haverford alum. There was a personal connection between Energy Vision and my lab advisor and that is how I found out about the opportunity. I think it’s cool that the alumni network is already working for me before I even graduate. I can say with certainty that I would not have found this internship without it.

What has been your favorite part of this internship?
While I feel my work is important, My favorite part of this internship was going to New York City to meet the team at the beginning of my internship. We all met in person for two days and did an in person on boarding day. It was helpful to get integrated into the company and get to know the people I was going to be working with before working remotely exclusively.
