Committee on Endowed Lectures

Endowed Lectures — Class of 1902 Lecture Fund

The Committee on Endowed Lectures administers the Class of 1902 Lecture Fund, which supports distinguished speakers at the College. The Committee invites proposals requesting funds to host potential speakers, typically in the $100-$800 range with up to $1000 granted in rare instances. The committee attempts to distribute the funds as widely as possible and to ensure an even spread between the fall and spring terms. All departments are urged to supplement their requests with other funding sources, and these supplements should be made explicit in the proposed budgets. All proposals should be submitted in electronic (pdf) form and contain the following documents (each of which should be no longer than 1-2 pages):

1) a CV for the proposed speaker;

2) a letter describing why the speaker is being invited, who the target audience will be, and plans to announce and advertise the event;

3) a budget describing where funds will come from and how they'll be used.

Upon receipt of a proposal, the committee will review the request and respond with an award letter. The main criterion used to review a proposal is relevance to at least a sizeable population outside the requesting department. All lecture announcements should clearly list the support from the "Class of 1902 Lecture Fund."

All proposals for the current academic year should be submitted to the chair/co-chair of the committee
