Become a Fellow

The STEMLA admissions process begins each Spring.

Students admitted to 魅影直播, whose applications indicate they meet the eligibility criteria, will be invited to apply to the program.

Program Eligibility

To be invited to apply to the program, students must:

  • Be a newly admitted, first-year student
  • Be a first-generation and/or limited income student**
  • Have a stated interest in a STEM major and/or a demonstration of STEM success and exploration

*At 魅影直播, the term 鈥渇irst-generation鈥 or 鈥渇irst-gen鈥 is defined as a student who is the first in their immediate family to attend a four-year college. In other words, first-gen refers to a student where neither parent attended a four-year college (this does not include step-parents). The student and their siblings (if applicable) would then be considered as the first-generation in their family to attend college.

**Limited-income status is determined by the Office of Financial Aid.

Preference will be given to students with a strong interest in the following majors: biology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, geology, mathematics, neuroscience, and physics.

The STEMLA program is funded to serve 20 students per academic year.

If you are an incoming student and feel that you meet one or more of the following criteria and have not received an invitation by (March 24 -June 1) please contact the STEMLA Assistant Director, Kelsey Obringer (kobringer@brynmawr.edu).

Admission, Applications, and Interviews

Admitted students that meet the above eligibility will be invited to apply to the program via email. Included in this email will be a simple application. Applications will open the same day invitations are sent out to admitted students. The deadline to apply to the STEMLA program is in mid-May.

Each Spring, after invitations have been sent to eligible students, the program will host a series of virtual information sessions. These information sessions are meant to provide additional information, introduce you to current Fellows and program staff, and to answer any specific questions about the program.

The dates and zoom links for the information sessions will be included in the initial STEMLA invitation.

After the application deadline, the STEMLA team will reach out to selected students to set up a short virtual Zoom interview.

These interviews will be scheduled by the STEMLA Assistant Director. We will do our best to accommodate schedules and time zones.

Final STEMLA admissions decisions will be sent out at the end of May or early June. Additional information regarding the summer program will be sent to selected Fellows in mid to late June.
