LITS is seeking qualified undergraduate candidates to work across multiple departments in the library this summer (2024). The purpose of this position is to introduce students to the field of library and information science through hands-on practical training in the libraries. Work will include front-facing, customer service-focused tasks (e.g. checking out books, finding books, answering questions) and back-end technical services (e.g. shelving, labeling, inventory, weeding and shifting the collection). Employees will rotate around departments to learn new skills and work with a range of library staff; everything from a book arriving on campus to shelving the book or checking it out to a patron. They also serve as library liaisons and provide direct service and assistance to patrons and staff in a friendly and open manner.
