Teach-In: Earthquakes and their Devastating Impacts in Turkey and Syria
On Feb. 6, Kahramanmaras, a city in southern Turkey, was hit by two major earthquakes. The earthquakes have had devastating impact in an area of more than 10 thousand square miles in Southern Turkey and Northern Syria. As of Feb. 10, more than 23 thousand people were killed, while tens of thousands of people were still under the rubble of collapsed buildings.
The teach-in will cover geological, political and psychological aspects of this major disaster and what the international community can do to respond.
Confirmed speakers are Jennie Breadbury (MECANA Studies), Aytug Sasmaz (Political Science), Arlo Weil (Geology) and TBD (GSSWSR or Psychology).
