Dear Students,
One of my co-workers used the phrase recently "it was like adding a rock onto an already big pile of suck" and it both made me laugh out loud and also seemed to truly capture what I think many of us are feeling right now. My hope for each of you is that you are finding ways--however you are able--to make the "pile of suck" you may be feeling a little lighter.
I write today with a brief update regarding housing for next year, a.k.a. ROOM DRAW. First, for those of you in the Class 2020 you are included on all of the emails because we know that many of you serve as proxies for friends. We imagine that may take place even more this year. We don't have the power to exclude you individually from the emails, so if they don't apply to you, please feel free to delete away when you see them!
The logistics for exactly how Room Draw will work are still being worked out, and we will share more next week. I am working with the Co-Heads of Residence Council to finalize the plans, but we envision that we will likely be doing draws via Zoom, while also making sure folks have opportunities to designate proxies (including using Res Life to proxy for you) for students who aren't able/interested in participating in the Zoom events and want/need another way to participate. We will find ways to be as inclusive and responsive as we possibly can to the ability and desire to participate. We know it will be imperfect and our hope is to get through it all together.
In addition, we have created a ROOM DRAW Moodle site, where all of the relevant information about the process, etc. will eventually be shared. You should have access to the Moodle right now (please check your Moodle dashboard!). Don't be alarmed that there is nothing currently posted on the site--that will be changing soon enough.
